- finally, the history of Provence through its fragances:
from the Orient perfumes arrive in the antique Provence of arid and savage scents ; later, irrigation allows there the cultivation of new aromatic plants (Basil, Tarragon, etc,) and through the seventeen century the domestication of noble flowers such as the Jasmine of Grasse and the Rose of May ; then, the first synthetic substances and the great scented compositions appear in the 20th century.
