Okay, it's official. I am a
bonafide woods lover now and this one did it for me. Sent me over the moon swooning. Bois
de Paradis it truly is! This will be perfect for the cooler weather up ahead. What a
sophisticated scent! I detected a similar note in it that was in Frapin 1270 except that I
am more in love with the Bois de Paradis!
Lasts extremely long in my skin. 4 hours and still going strong. This is definitely going
to be in my top 10 favorite scents of all time. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.
Otherwise I would go out and buy a crate of this!

Should probably 'fess up
before continuing w/ this review that I am a dyed in the wool, proudly card carrying woods
fan(atic). And this is one of my top favs in that category. A stunningly gorgeous rich,
sweet, sensual fragrance w/ blackberries, amber, cinnamon swirled into the woods.
Swoonable. Makes me weak in the knees. It has great lasting power and I also like the
Delrae bottles....simple, elegant. It is a fragrance to wear year round whenever you're in
an autumnal mood.

Ever so slightly
berry-sweetened, gently spiced, thick, dark woods with a velvety smoothness. Elicits
ecstatic compliments from everyone. Very expensive, but worth begging for on your
birthday. Not an everyday scent, either: its character announces itself and refuses to
recede nicely into the background. Best to keep it to make an impression every once in a
while, as needed.

Wonderful spicy raspberry
infused musky floral w. staying power. Sexy without any little-girl overtones, yet fresh:
an aristocratic french girl, fighting for the resistance, idealist/communist morphs into
an avant garde writer, doyenne of the jet-set in old age. . .If you like Rose d'Ete you'll
like this.

I bought this once and then
sold it as the cinnamon note was almost unbearable. However, I recently purchased a
decant, and am in love. The cinnamon seems to be beautifully tempered by a juicy dark
fruit note (must be the blackberries, but it almost smells of plum to me). I will be
saving for a bottle of this immediately!!

I have this, and rarely wear
it but when I do I am really astounded by it's beauty. It is a woody, spicey, fruity, very
rich scent that ALWAYS gets compliments when I wear it. It is probably one of the most
unique things I own, and one of the most expensive too. On me this is a soft cinnamony,
woody scent that lingers softly on my skin all day. The lasting power is tremendous but it
is NEVER overwhelming. I will definitely buy this again when I finish this bottle, thank
God I don't wear it that often because for $125 per 1.7 oz I can't afford to use this as
an everyday scent. Do try it, even if it's not for you, you should have the pleasure of
trying something that is so beautifully crafted by a master perfumer.

Bois de Paradis is one of
those fragrances that I enjoyed sampling so much that I rushed to obtain a decant, only to
now lament about making much ado about nothing. Still, it's not bad if you like the scent
of sweetened woods. My issue with it is that I'm not keen on its tenacious sweetness.
While the blackberries suffuse the composition with a nearly saccharine juice, the base of
sandalwood and cedar lends its own subtly sweet accord. It's simply too sweet and woodsy
for me. In short, every time I apply this, my next shower cannot come any sooner, for this
is one fragrance that certainly wears me.

I could literally drink this
stuff. Fruity, spicy, woody, rich, deep, lingering and so very NOT mainstream. A little
steep in the pricing and I probably won't re-purchase, but will enjoy it until the last
drop is gone.

I have had this fragrance for
a while, however only now did I remember to review it. I must say that over the past few
months it has lost its appeal completely. What at first I found to be rich and exotic, now
I think of as cloying. Blackberry is one of those notes that sound good in theory, but on
my skin they attain an overly sweet character. Combined with rich woods (sandalwood, a
touch of cedar, rosewood) and spices, blackberry is very sweet and persistent indeed. The
lasting power is incredible, which is a good point in favour of Bois de Paradis, however I
find that I cannot wear this fragrance at all lately because of its sticky richness. Much
like eating a whole box of chocolates in one go--you get an idea. Out of three Parfums
delRae creations, I much prefer Amoureuse.

The best one of the three
DelRaes I tested. The thing is, to my nose they all share a "house smell" I find
very unpleasant and melon-like. These scents just are not for me.

Thanks to a wonderful swapper
I received a sample of this beautiful fragrance. It is very fruity and feminine. The wood
and spices balance it out to tone down the sweetness. It has good lasting power (5 hours
+).
www.beautyhabit.com decsribes it as follows: "A warm and irresistible scent.
Mysterious and discreetly sensual. It begins with top notes of bergamot, heart notes of
the finest French rose, cinnamon and blackberry, and base notes of the most seductive
woods and amber. Elegant and luxurious!" It costs $125.00 for 1.7 oz

I received a sample of this in
a swap from a very sweet swapper. Since the notes have been reviewed, I won't repeat them
here. Actually, on my skin, this reminds me immediately of fall weather and my grandmother
baking a homemade pumpkin pie--I smell nothing but the cinammon and for some reason,
nutmeg. This is too spicey for my tastes, but nice and unique if you like spicey-sweet
gourmand scents. Definitely a great fall/winter scent.

Very beautiful mix of
mellowed, rich fruit, light woods, a little spice and maybe a non-heady, non-bright floral
like marigold sneaking in there (?), but the actual notes are bergamot, rose, blackberry,
cinnamon, cedar, balsam and amber. Nice to see the blackberry mixed with bergamot, and the
combination with the woods makes this a mellow, luscious fruitywood scent.

What a gorgeous
scent! On me, a lighter, fruitier Feminite de Bois without the cedary sharpness and less
spice. At first, I detect a very soft, fresh floral fragrance that develops into a spiced
blackberry scent that is still very subtle. The woods soon emerge and the result is a
woody amber with a touch of blackberry. Perfect for late summer into fall. My husband also
finds this absolutely delicious.

A beautiful,
well-balanced blend of fruits, woods, and spices, Bois de Paradis is reminiscent of Serge
Lutens Bois et Fruits, with a bit more emphasis on the fruits.

With Noir Épices
as my first introduction to parfumeur Michel Roudnitska, son of Edmond Roudnitska, I was
immediately intrigued when I learned of his collaboration with Delrae Roth to design
fragrances which would evoke the mood of San Francisco. According to the press release,
three fragrances debuted in November 2002: Bois de Paradis, Eau Illuminé and Amoureuse.
Whilst I do not pretend to understand what makes these fragrances peculiarly San
Franciscan (for me, nothing can be as evocative of the fog and romance of the city by the
bay as Lheure Bleue), they are nevertheless fine examples of harmony and subtle
elegance. To my amateur nose, the top notes hold together so well for the first hour that
I cannot distinguish among them. In the dry down, the middle and base notes begin to
diverge and melt away in a pleasant and delicate manner. Overall, these are well-crafted
fragrances, however, I must take away a point for their price: $125 for 1.7 oz. Subtlety
should not cost this much. Bois de Paradis is by far my favorite of the three, both for
its scent and lasting power. The initial burst is so much like passion fruit that I was
surprised to read that the top note is bergamot and the heartnotes are French rose,
cinnamon and blackberry. Only after an hour or so does a delicious blackberry scent emerge
supported by the most subtle woods and a little amber. If you are interested in fragrances
like MPGs Fraiche Passiflore or Rose Muskissime, but do not enjoy their prominent
sweetness or musky dry down, I would recommend sampling Bois de Paradis. For more
